Who we are and what we do

Foster Community Connections

MAC strives to create and promote a supportive and inclusive community for Mangalorean immigrants. The association aims to provide a space where individuals can feel a sense of belonging and purpose while preserving and promoting Mangalorean culture, traditions, and language. Over the years, MAC has become a key figure in connecting Mangaloreans across Canada, offering leadership, networking, and entrepreneurial opportunities as well as expanding its community outreach programs. Events such as the Annual Family Social and Family Picnic have been extraordinarily successful in advocating cohesive social interactions and connections.

Build Community Connections

From its inception, MAC is focused on fostering social engagement and collaboration within the community. One of its early initiatives was to organize family-centered events that brought people together for entertainment, skill-sharing, and leadership opportunities. MAC’s immense success and longevity can be attributed to its ability to attune, adapt and address the ever-evolving needs of the community. The association has continued to provide platforms for its members to connect, share ideas, and demonstrate talents.  Events such as the Christmas Bazaar provide local artisans and home based entrepreneurs the opportunity to promote their products and services, connect new immigrants, bring ideas to market, gain visibility and new customers.

Our Patroness, Our Lady of the Rosary Guiding our Journey

In 2025, MAC joyfully embraced a new spiritual chapter by consecrating the association to Our Lady of the Rosary, our beloved Patroness and in January 2026, the Silver Jubilee year, we completed the Spiritual Act of Entrustment. Entrusting our community and the families to her maternal care deepened MAC’s commitment to nurturing faith, unity, and devotion among the Mangalorean families in Canada. Her guidance continues to inspire every step of our mission, drawing us closer together in prayer and gratitude.

Our devotion is also expressed through cherished traditions that strengthen both faith and cultural identity. In 2003, MAC became the first association in Canada to celebrate Monthi Fest, a treasured Mangalorean celebration that blends music, solemnity, and joy. This milestone marked the beginning of our ongoing dedication to preserving the rich cultural and spiritual heritage of our community.

Today, the monthly Konkani Mass and Lenten Retreats remain pillars of our spiritual life, fostering a vibrant and prayerful community rooted in love, fellowship, and worship under the watchful mantle of Our Lady of the Rosary.

Youth and Future Generations

MAC recognizes the importance of our youth in shaping the future of the community and providing financial and social opportunities and assistance. In 2011, the association launched an Annual Scholarship Program to support first-year university students, and in 2023, expanded the program to include a scholarship for second-year students. MAC advocates and encourages youth participation in youth choirs, altar serving, Lenten Retreats, Christmas Pageants, volunteer work at Food Banks, and emceeing at events. Through these initiatives, MAC aims to empower young people by providing a platform and network to build leadership skills, demonstrate their talents and seek leadership roles within the community.

Philanthropy and Giving Back

Philanthropy is at the heart of MAC’s mission. Each year, the association selects multiple local, national and international charitable organizations to receive funding, supporting causes that make a meaningful impact to those in need. This spirit of solidarity and empathy is reflected in the way MAC fosters connections not just within the community, but also with broader charitable initiatives. Over the years, MAC has donated thousands of much required funding to Food Banks such as St. Ann Parish Food Bank, Mississauga Food Bank; Chalice, a Canadian Catholic child sponsorship charity or Snehalaya, a charitable trust in India helping the least, last and the lost.

Embracing Technology

Under the leadership of its forward-thinking pioneering Executive Committee, MAC has revolutionized event management and social outreach. By incorporating technology, such as apps, automated payments, e-tickets, and wristbands, the association has enhanced its operations while promoting sustainability.

Looking Ahead

Today, MAC stands as a leader in the community with a lasting impact and a strong reputation for creating opportunities and fostering unity. "Together we make a difference” is even more integral today as MAC continues its exponential growth journey with innovative programs, increased presence on social media, the transformation of its website, creation of an intuitive mobile forum to engage and interact, and finally be the leader and voice of our Konkani community. As we move forward, we remain committed to preserving our heritage, empowering our youth, and continuing to make a difference in the lives of Mangaloreans across Canada.
